Partnerships & Support
Support
According to a recent study by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, nonprofits dedicated to women & girls receive less than 2% of all charitable giving. This percentage is even smaller for organizations that support incarcerated women and girls. A global survey of organizations like ours reports that 60% are in precarious financial situations. More than a quarter anticipate having to shut down in the coming year due to lack of funds.
We face similar fundraising challenges. Although we are very good at stretching a dollar, our ability to survive from one year to the next is entirely contingent on the generosity of our donors. A significant portion of our funding comes from the financial support of individual donors. We are the recipient of grant funding from the Gender Justice Fund. We have also received financial support from the Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund and Villanova University.
We believe incarcerated survivors deserve your support. They are among the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our society. Their incarceration is all too often the tragic consequence of a system that has failed to protect them. The resilience of women and girls is a powerful reminder that with support and resources they can uplift and strengthen families, advance communities, and reclaim their futures.
